Detail
Implants take months, not weeks, because the bone has to grow around the post before it can carry any load. Anyone promising a finished implant in a fortnight is describing something else.
The stages
Placement is the short part — usually under an hour, under local anaesthetic. Then the jaw does the actual work for three to four months, and we fit the crown once it has.
Who they suit
You need enough bone to hold the post and healthy gums around the site. Smoking materially lowers the success rate, and we will say so rather than take the money and hope.
